50: Nichola Weir (@pacifictouchnyc), NYC Acne Specialist
On this episode, I sit down with NYC acne specialist Nichola Weir (@pacifictouchnyc). We compare our own struggles with acne and how we have shifted our mindsets when dealing with breakouts. We talk about acne patterns in Nicola’s clients, self blame when it comes to acne, and the shame implemented around not having perfect skin. We also dive into the false sense of security the clean beauty movement has created, and how clean doesn’t always mean acne-safe.
Follow Up Q&A:
First thing you do in the morning? The first mindful thing I do every morning is a ritual I have with my daughter (4 years). We wait on the stoop for her school bus at 6:40am and she is sleepily snuggled into my neck, sniffing me (her sensory kiss) and giving me deep hugs. I savor that 5-10 minutes of absolute bliss with her and remind myself how blessed I am.
What advice would you give your younger self? Appreciate your magic, wear sunscreen, don’t start smoking and don’t stop dancing!!!!!
Wellness trend you love and wellness trend you wish would end? I love any Wellness trend that make people happier, kinder people (the world needs this). I don’t like Wellness trends that are too good to be true ie the “one thing” that “cures everything” or Wellness trends that create elitist cliques that bring out the judgey-ness in people or make people feel unworthy (the world needs less of this).
First Job? Care and Protection social worker in New Zealand investigating child abuse.
Proudest moment? Hitting the 10 year mark in my business after everything I went through to make Pacific Touch NYC Skincare happen is an extremely proud moment. But the birth of my daughter after having 5 miscarriages is hands down the most emotional moment of my life.
3 most used emojis? 😘🙈😂
Favorite ice cream flavor? Jaffa (a NZ ice cream flavor ..... orange and chocolate)
Favorite meal of the day? I’m a true blue Kiwi in this department.... Brekkie all day everyday!
Stay up late or wake up early? A natural night owl who is now a Mamabear and *has to* wake up at 5:30am
Night time routine? Honestly I don’t get home from Pacific Touch until 10:30/11pm so getting my makeup off is all I have the energy for in the self care department..... there is no 18 step night time skincare routine in this Mamabear/Estie’s life right now ..... and that’s just fine :)
