63: Kira West, the Voice Behind @bykwest

On this episode I talk to Kira West, the voice behind @bykwest. We discuss the call to action moving forward regarding anti-racism, and the importance of using your voice to make a change. We talk about the lack of inclusivity and diversity within the wellness space, and ways to learn and diversify more. We dive into how quarantine has changed our perspectives on things we need, how we plan on maintaining what keeps us happy in the new normal, and cultural appropriation when it comes to food.

Follow Up Q&A:

  1. First thing you do in the morning? Find my glasses (always losing them these days). Usually I’m running to a workout class online. Loving Studio Three Chicago at the moment.

  2. What advice would you give your younger self? Be patient and trust your gut. The patience is something I’m still working on.

  3. Wellness trend you love and wellness trend you wish would end? Love online workout options especially now and want that to continue. CBD everything, I wish that would end. There value in CBD but the market place now has so many options it’s so saturated and every day I feel like I get an email for a new CBD brand.

  4. First Job? When I was 12 I worked making fresh squeezed juice and handing out samples at Street festivals.

  5. Proudest moment? Graduating from college with a major I created plus a job was probably my proudest moment. Knowing I successfully made my own way meant a lot.

  6. 3 most used emojis? 🥵🥰🤣 (first one is my fave I use it all the time, half the time I’m not even sure it’s relevant)

  7. Favorite ice cream flavor? Van Leeuwen Oat Milk chocolate crunch was my favorite! Discovered it last season now waiting for a restock on the pint version. SO good.

  8. Night time routine? Set my alarm and focus on my breathing to quiet my mind (4-7-8 breathing is everything)

  9. Bath or shower? Shower!

  10. Sweet or savory? Savory all the way!
