Charlie's Favorite Things
Alright guys, this is way overdue, but I am finally sitting down to put together a list of everything we use for Charlie (am I becoming a mommy blogger without even birthing a child…?). As you all know by now, I have an over the top obsession with our pup, Charlie. Truly, I think he is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me and the cutest dog that has ever existed. For more on him and his adoption story, check out this IGTV episode I made awhile back. I am no expert, and relied on a lot of advice from friends, but for people who ask for links to specific products we use for him, I’m including them all below!
First and foremost, lets talk food / treats…
Farmer’s Dog: smarter, healthier, pet food made freshly with real food. Charlie is absolutely obsessed!! This link gets you 50% off your first order
Blue Wilderness puppy dry dog food: while still a puppy, we are feeding him this for half of his meals and using this kibble for training treats
Best Bully Sticks: great treat to keep him busy gnawing on while traveling
Beef bully sticks: these are harder and not ones he is able to quickly eat through
Wellness puppy bites: perfect small bites for training rewards
Stella & Chewy: Charlie lovessss the stella & chewy treats (dinner patties & the treats) but consider this a warning - never get any of the seafood flavors
While it is typical to place the food in a bowl and let the dog go to town, since Charlie is incredibly food motivated, we use this time for training or to keep him occupied / stimulated while we are doing something else. Here are the tools we use to do so:
KONG chew toy: I stuff these with either our Farmer’s Dog food, peanut butter & his kibble, Greek yogurt, or deli meat. He is absolutely obsessed with them and keeps him busy for a good 30 minutes.
Busy buddy twist ‘n treat: fill it with his kibble or treats and keeps him seriously busy
Interactive puzzle dog toy: fill this with any kibble and it helps keep the pup occupied and stimulated while eating while also lengthening the feed time
Lick pad: great to smear with peanut butter, yogurt, or cottage cheese to keep him occupied
Not sure what to necessarily label this next section, but I’m thinking supplies? These are all the things that we stocked up on prior to getting Charlie:
Smart Pet love snuggle puppy behavioral aid toy: I wish we had gotten this when he was a true puppy, because the fake heartbeat in the animal is supposed to mimic a mother’s heartbeat and help with anxiety, but Charlie seems to destroy it during the day and cuddle with it at night
Double door dog crate: comes with a divider so you can continue to adjust its size as your dog grows
LEVOIT Air Purifier to help with home allergies
Dog Bed Mat: we have this for his crate, but from personal experience and speaking with our trainer, I would leave the crate empty until he is fully potty/crate trained
Best Friends Dog Bed: what he sleeps in every night and rolls up into like a cocoon
Heavy duty dog leash: seriously affordable and a great leash to have
50ft leash: we use this now that we’re in the suburbs so he can play around in the backyard alone without getting into (too much) trouble
Wire storage basket for his toys
Beauty tools to keep him looking handsome:
